![]() Spiral Seisiún was born in the fall of 2002 as a side project of the Society of Celtic Cultures at the University of Illinois and has since evolved into the performance group it is now. Mary Rose O'Shea (fiddle), Kara Butler (flute, tin whistle), Conor O'Shea (flute, whistle, low whistle, uilleann pipes), Erik Newman (mandolin, tenor banjo), Jack McCabe (guitar, vocals), and Jeff Peyton (bodhrán, drums) all have a diverse and rich backgrounds in traditional Irish music, classical, rock, jazz, and folk, each bringing to the group their own interpretations and flavor of Irish music. Spiral Seisiún, Champaign-Urbana's newest Irish band, has become a regular feature at Irish-themed campus events at both bars and local cultural events.
